What a Golf Influencer's 4-Hour Range Test Says About the Torrance Hoodie

Jake Morrow spends a lot of time thinking about what he wears on the course.

As the creator behind Made for the Range, he tests gear the way most golfers wish they had time to: hours at a stretch, in real conditions, with no shortcuts.

So when he strapped on the Turtleson Torrance Hoodie for a range session in 95-degree heat with direct sun, it wasn't a quick unboxing. It was a four-hour stress test.

"Apparel is part of your equipment," Morrow said in his review. "You can play better or play worse depending on if you like what you're wearing, and if you perform well in it."

That's the idea behind the Torrance Hoodie. It's built to disappear into your round so you can focus on your swing instead of the sun on your neck.

Built for Heat, Not Just Sun

Plenty of hoodies claim sun protection. Fewer are built to be worn for hours in direct heat without becoming a problem of their own.

The Torrance is made from a lightweight performance polyester designed to move heat away from your body rather than trap it against your skin.

That's where brrr technology comes in. It's a cooling fabric treatment that gives the hoodie a noticeably cool-to-the-touch feel, so you get UPF coverage without the trade-off of overheating under a layer.

UPF Protection That Doesn't Ask You to Sacrifice Comfort

The Torrance carries a UPF rating built for long days outdoors, the kind where sunscreen wears off and shade is optional at best. That matters most for golfers, anglers, and anyone else who spends entire afternoons exposed with no real cover.

What makes it work as daily gear, not just a specialty piece, is the fit. Morrow noted the hoodie runs true to size, comparable to how you'd size a Turtleson polo, though he sized up slightly, which is his normal habit. He wore a polo underneath and still had plenty of room to move.

That extra room isn't accidental. A hoodie meant to be worn over a base layer, in the heat, for hours, needs space to breathe rather than cling.

A Color and Fit That Fits Your Game

Beyond performance, Morrow called out the hoodie's bright, punchy color as a personal favorite, calling it "his vibe."

It's a reminder that performance gear doesn't have to look purely functional.

The Torrance comes in colorways built for golfers who want to stand out on the course, not blend into a sea of neutral pullovers.

Why This Matters for Your Next Round

A four-hour range session in direct sun is a fair proxy for what most golfers actually deal with on a hot summer round. Gear either holds up to that or it doesn't.

The Torrance Hoodie is designed around a simple idea: you shouldn't have to trade sun protection for comfort, and you shouldn't have to think about your layers mid-round.

That's what let one of golf's more demanding gear testers leave it on for four straight hours and call it "really cool stuff."
