A quiet knit gives a patterned shirt room to work. Use it to connect the colors already represented in your shop.
Marshall 1/4 Zip Sweater
A conversation for AGM members
A little layering.
A lot of opportunity.
The right assortment. A complete look.
A confident conversation on your floor.
More than a layer
A sweater can finish an outfit, make a thoughtful gift and give customers a reason to take another look at your shop.
Making the most of the category starts with knowing your membership and bringing together the right assortment, presentation and conversation. This November, Turtleson is offering AGM members a little help with all three.
01 / The assortment
Know your customer. Shape your buy.
Start with your membership.
Build from there.
Your climate, your club calendar and the way your customers dress all shape the role sweaters can play in your shop. A warm-weather destination may need a different balance of weights and silhouettes than a club heading into cooler mornings and a busy gifting season.
Let's explore familiar necklines, useful layering weights, core colors and a considered amount of seasonal interest. Give each piece a role, with a natural connection to the polos and woven shirts already on your floor.
Talk through your assortmentThe material perspective
Look beyond color. Surface, neckline and construction give each sweater a different role in the assortment. Put the details where customers can see and feel them.

Marshall 1/4 Zip Sweater
The visual interest
A patterned sweater can lead the presentation. Keep the companion pieces quieter so the combination feels considered.
Solo Birdseye Quarter Zip
The different silhouette
A quarter-button neckline changes the expression of a sweater story. Show the detail alongside a familiar zip silhouette.

02 / The presentation
Wardrobe Logic. On the shop floor.Give the sweater a place in the wardrobe.
A folded sweater introduces a color. A complete presentation shows a customer how to wear it. Bring a polo or woven shirt into the story, let the collar provide contrast and connect the combination to a trouser in your assortment.

A woven shirt brings another layer of pattern and a clear styling cue. Show the collar and cuff so the pairing reads as an outfit.
Sweater + woven shirt + light trouser

A navy foundation keeps a patterned knit in focus. A quiet companion makes the sweater's detail easy to see.
Patterned knit + tonal base + gray trouser

A dark textured knit and khaki give the eye a familiar starting point. Build a display around the pieces that already work together.
Textured knit + familiar neutral
The Wardrobe Logic approach
One thoughtful addition.
More ways to wear what they already own.

From the fabric to the floor
A fabric story becomes useful when it helps a customer make a choice. Invite them to feel the knit. Explain the actual fiber and construction. Connect the weight and texture to the way they plan to wear it.
For gifting, bring that same care to the conversation: the recipient's routine, familiar colors and preferred silhouettes are a better starting point than a guess.

Product knowledge with a purpose.Know the piece.
Ask the right question.
The most useful product knowledge is the kind your team can put into a sentence. Give associates a few simple openings, then let the customer's answers guide the conversation.
“What do they already love to wear, and what would make it feel new?”
A starting point for your team
Invite the customer to feel the knit. Explain the specific fiber, weight and construction of the piece in hand, then relate those details to their day.
Try the sweater over that type of shirt. Look at the neckline, room through the shoulders and overall length, using the style's fit guidance.
Open the fit guide ↗Show a pairing for the course or clubhouse and another for everyday use. Begin with colors and pieces the customer already reaches for.
Ask about their usual size, preferred colors and daily routine. Show a complete pairing and check the individual garment's care instructions before making recommendations.
