Why we keep coming back to Merino

Comfort comes naturally.

We believe a great fabric should make your clothes easier to live in. Merino brings softness, breathable warmth, and versatility together. That is why it has such an important place in our collections.

Soft from the start.

Extra-fine Merino has a gentle, supple feel. In our Marshall knits, that softness meets clean silhouettes you can dress up or down.

Warmth that breathes.

Merino helps regulate temperature, giving you comfortable warmth as your day moves indoors and out. Our lightweight knits make layering simple.

More ways to wear it.

From polished quarter zips to relaxed hoodies and sweater vests, we use Merino in pieces that work with the wardrobe you already love.

The Turtleson point of view

A better fiber is only the beginning.

From our home in Bristol, Tennessee, we think about how a piece fits into your life. The feel of the knit. The shape of the neckline. Colors that work together. Details you appreciate every time you put it on.

We invest in Merino because it gives us so much to work with: fine sweaters with a polished drape, versatile vests, and purposeful blends for cooler days. Each is a different expression of the same belief: a great piece should earn its place in your wardrobe.

What makes Merino different from other wool?

Merino is wool from Merino sheep. Fine fibers give it a soft feel, while its natural breathability and insulation help keep you comfortable. Many of the sweaters in this edit use 100% extra-fine Merino for lightweight warmth and an easy drape.

Are all of these pieces 100% Merino?

No. The Marshall, Amelia, Maeve, birdseye and argyle sweaters, Wise, Lakeside, and Academy pieces shown here use 100% extra-fine Merino. Woolen Fleece uses a Merino and polyester blend. Harlow has a polyester shell with 65% Merino / 35% nylon knit panels. We identify the fabric on each card, with full details on the product page.

How should I care for my Merino?

Follow the care label on your individual piece, especially with blends and hybrid jackets. Avoid assuming every Merino item is machine washable. Our garment care guide and Bristol customer care team can help you care for your knitwear.

How do I choose my size?

Use the fit notes and size guidance on each product page. For help deciding between sizes, contact our Bristol team. You can also review our returns and exchanges information before ordering.
